NEW YORK CITY - An active shooter incident unfolded this afternoon at the Blackstone Group headquarters located at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Authorities have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Shane Tamura.

The Incident

"We heard several loud pops that sounded like gunfire," said Michael Chen, an employee at KPMG whose offices share the building. "Our floor security immediately initiated lockdown procedures. It was terrifying."

The NYPD responded within minutes to reports of an active shooter. During the response, Officer Didarul Islam was shot and wounded. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
